Techno-Horror Fiction

For quite a while I searched for a creative outlet. I explored music, blogging, and even started my own information security company. I did that with a specific goal in mind, and when I achieved it, I realized that negotiating prices and working with people who did not have the best interests of either their company or mine was not the path I wanted to take. So I stepped away from all of it. Over time I looked at different possibilities, asking myself what I wanted to create that would truly represent my tastes and interests. That question proved challenging to answer.

After years of thinking about it, the answer came almost out of the blue: writing horror. I never once, growing up or at any point in my life, thought that I would become a writer. Yet here I am. Why? Because it gives me a sense of accomplishment and lets me merge my creative side with the two things I have always been passionate about: technology and fear. I have spent years in offensive security, hacking into systems, seeing the terrible things that happen with technology, and imagining the potential disasters that could happen. Combine that with my love of horror films, both classic and modern, and it makes sense.

When you add in my music tastes, heavy metal, black metal, dark metal, industrial, cyberpunk, and techno, it feels like I have finally found the canvas where I can bring all of these influences together into an artistic product that is entirely my own. Best of all, I can be an artist without the demands of constant appearances. I do not need to be on stage or find time for events. My audience can experience my work without my physical presence.

So why horror, and why techno horror? Growing up, I loved horror movies and horror fiction. As a teenager, and even now, I have always been drawn to darker music and aesthetics. It is not frightening to me, but it can be unsettling to others, which is part of the appeal. This combination laid the foundation for the genre I want to focus on: techno-horror.

Am I going to quit my job as a security consultant to do this full time? No. Statistically, the odds of replacing my income with writing alone are against me. That is not my immediate goal. My goal is to create something I would personally want to read, build a brand around it, and put it out into the world to see who else is interested. Whether it becomes a major success or not is less important than fulfilling my need for creative expression.

I have several types of media in mind, with novels at the top of the list. That takes time, and I am currently planning and designing one now, aiming for a release sometime next year. Short stories will be posted here on the blog, and I am also planning other types of content including imagery, videos, and music. All of this will be released from this point forward, so keep an eye out if you are interested.

That is all the news I have for now. Check back for new blog posts, and follow my social media links on the site. I hope to see you all as readers and fans soon.
